Monday, July 27, 2015: Isaiah 50-52; Ps. 92; 2 Pet. 1
Listen to me, you that pursue righteousness,
you that seek the Lord.
Look to the rock from which you were hewn,
and to the quarry from which you were dug.
2 Look to Abraham your father
and to Sarah who bore you;
for he was but one when I called him,
but I blessed him and made him many.
I’ve been thinking lately about the ‘rock from which I was hewn.’ It is with deep gratitude that I think about the various ‘rocks’ that have formed and shaped my life – parents and grandparents; spiritual mentors; friends. And those thoughts lead me to think about generations in the future – who might turn back and say ‘she helped shape me.’ It’s a huge responsibility and a great honor – to be influenced and to be an influence.
What season are you in right now – you (yes, you!) have so much to give – you have the opportunity to be the rock. What are you doing to share your gifts, talents, life lessons, etc. with the next generation?
